Full details on the program can be found here: http://www.rockfordschools.org/2019/02/27/powerful-parenting/.

As part of this program, the Rockford Sports Boosters are collaborating with Developing Healthy Kids to provide additional focus on Developing Healthy Athletes! We are very excited about the added dimension to our mission, and in today's environment of very intensive training, focus on athletics and scholarships, year-round sport play and training, and not only the physical but also mental stress this places on our young athletes, we feel it is critical to recognize and support this aspect of their journey (and yours) as well!

On March 19, we are bringing in internationally accredited proactive sports coaching expert, Rob Miller. He has some poignant and compelling messages specifically targeted to young athletes, coaches, and parents.

Rob will be presenting in the LGI room during the small group sessions AS WELL AS during the keynote address.

His schedule for the evening will be as follows:

  • 4:45 - 5:15 PM "The competitive Edge - How to be your best and balance your sports, school, work, social life" How to cultivate that intensity, integrity, and desire for excellence! FOR ATHLETES

  • 5:20 - 5:50 PM "Parenting Your Athlete" - How to support, encourage, guide, and "coach" your athlete to be the best they can be while balancing everything else! FOR PARENTS

  • 5:55 - 6:30 PM "Coaching Your Young Athletes" - How to develop not only strong athletic skills and a winning attitude, but also good sportsmanship, team bonding, support balance of team, practice, schoolwork, jobs, social commitments. FOR COACHES (and parents who are coaches)

  • 7:00 - 7:30 PM "The competitive Edge - How to be your best and balance your sports, school, work, social life" How to cultivate that intensity, integrity, and desire for excellence! FOR ATHLETES

Important things to note:

  • Sessions are targeted to but not limited to athletes, coaches, or parents.

  • We are offering TWO time slots for the "athletes" presentation to hopefully accommodate your player practice schedules.

  • We are REQUESTING that you make this session MANDATORY for ALL ATHLETES (extra credit?). We will have a SIGN IN sheet for all Athletes so you can verify which of your players HAVE ATTENDED a session. We are investing a fair amount of $$ to bring in Rob as he is a very talented and informative coach.

  • We will be offering $25 Meijer gift cards to random "lucky" students who attend either one of Rob's sessions (at 4:45PM or at 7:00PM).

  • The Sports Boosters appreciate your support and communication to ALL STUDENT ATHLETES and families of athletes!! Please do spread the word, mark this on your calendar to attend, and make sure your student athletes are there to listen, learn, and win a door prize!!!
